View PvP Battles in Waiting area
i think it would be incredible to be able to view the PvP battles as they happen in the waiting area. The Shiverpeak PvP is a perfect example of being able to see the "course". If they had some kind of buffer display or something similar that would let players waiting to play or just standing around able to view the battle, I think that would be really entertaining.

Many PvP areas are quite large and it wouldn't work to well trying to view a highly spread out battleground. But if it could work, then yes I'm for it.
The closest thing we have to that now is when you die you can observe all other living teammate's screens.

I'm pretty sure it's been said in a fairly recent interview or fansite friday that some sort of observer mode is almost certainly going to be added, though not by release.

I know there are a few arenas in the game and I wondered if we can actually get tickets and sit in on bleachers to watch?
That would be pretty great though, and the ticket cash could be divided by the towns as an infusion to the game economy for more items at the crafters or outfitters as the game moves forward in time. Maybe even to afford the "production" of new armour and weapons classes for new professions. In this way even our observing the arena affects the outcome of the game. I would make tickets non-transferable so that what is generated is not for current use but part of the long-term economy.
Just some thoughts along the same lines as the original post as this could work there too, even without the pomp and circumstance of an actual arena setting.

that really would be great.
After all, how amazing would it be if, say, once a month there was a huge guild tournament, or an 'official' pvp tournament? You could have huge battles that stretched over a week in total to find the ultimate pvp team or guild team, and everyone could watch. Not only would it be great to watch a tournament but it would also let PvP noobs (like me) study people to get an idea of possible tactics, or let PvP 'experts' learn new things or encourage them to tweak their already existing tactics much more easily than someone simply coming up to you and saying "use this then this then this and everyone will die, trust me"

Lasting weeks? I don't see how that could possibly work. People can't play 24/7 for a week. They'd collapse within 24 hours from lack of sleep. Maybe I misread it, but if so, please explain.

I think when Pevil Lihatuh said lasting weeks it would be like a playoff. Like March Maddness or the NFL You start with N number of PvP teams the loser gets kicked or even better put into a lower bracket and you play till there is only one team left. Maybe even bet on the outcome(but that is not a very good idea )

Aye, It'd be quite a fight if it were to go on for weeks. Maybe they should figure out a way to do that. (not quite) Just say once a year, have a district wide fight. Last man standing wins.

Considering the effects of some items they could have the battles take place in the presence of this item or that one, tweaked up but also limiting the presense of that item, switching the item, etc. Could be interesting tourneys. Maybe two different items, one on one side, one on the other and they disappear or switch item or effect so many minutes into play.

I dont know if you just really need your sleep or have a disorder. Ive been at a weekend kegger drunk of my ass and was still be able to stay awake for 48 hours.
I do belive that this would be a good addition.

Sleeping champ
I went 72 hours once without sleep....The tree started talking to me.
That being said, I think tickets to help drain the economy is great. the Huge PVP thing would be cool too. Maybe wagers on who wins????

Or instead of two teams of eight, you have two teams of 8 teams of 8...
In other words, 64 people on each team. Also known as mass chaos. What could be more fun?
And of course, here's where I imagine something so great that would never actually happen in the game...A line of Warriors in front, with nice orderly ranks behind them, with Rangers next, followed by Monks, and then the rest...pretty quickly, the large battle would break apart into smaller fights as each team seperates to avoid AoE spells, and small pockets form when Warriors rush Monks and the rest of each team tries to support them...
That's what this game needs. A huge battlefield. No map. No Priest. Just two teams and plenty of places to wait in ambush.

I like the idea of the district breaking out into riots. That'd be awesome to have that every now and then (announced of course, so people can avoid that district if they don't want to get involved)
I also like Flame's idea. Where you could actually have Guild Wars. You'd have seperate teams of 8, say 8 teams of 8 on one side the same on the other. Then to get rid of the problem ArenaNet wanted to remove, you would have team leaders assigned, so there would be 8 commanders, they would talk with each other beforehand to form out their tactics, then turn to their each respective members and discuss tactics with them. So while being a mass war, it is actually segregated enough for each side to command.
You'd probably also have to have an extra person in there as the general to coordinate the 8 team leaders during battle so they only have to worry about their squad of 8. It'd make it like an actual full scaled battle and the name of the game would forfill it's purpose.
